Wisdom Seekers was founded in 2006 by two local homeschooling moms in Athens, GA with the purpose of providing one day a week enrichment classes for local homeschooling families and to offer a community setting for like-minded families. The original co-op consisted of around 10 families, who met every Friday from September to May, at Beech Haven Baptist Church, located in Athens, GA. Over the years, Wisdom Seekers continued to grow by adding additional families as well as the addition of extracurricular activities such as ballet, violin lessons, sewing, and cake decorating. The extracurricular activities were in the afternoon, following morning classes and lunch. Both founders continued to serve as co-directors until the end of the 2012 school year.
During the 2012-2013 school year, Wisdom Seekers continued to meet at Beech Haven Baptist Church under a new director with around 20 families as members.
The 2013-2014 school year brought a new director, who is still currently director, and a new location. Wisdom Seekers relocated to Hull Baptist Church in Hull, GA. Our highest enrollment was 25 families, which included over 70 children participating. The 2014-2015 school included the addition of Kindergarten & Senior Graduations and a yearbook. The 2015-2016 school year included our 1st Annual Field Day.
Despite the changes in directors and location, Wisdom Seekers purpose and values, to provide a Christian community for homeschooling families, have remained the same as when it was founded in 2006.
